This is an image-blog following one timid player and her attempts to avoid Creeper hugs, falling into fiery lava death, and being chewed by Zombies.
Success is by no means assured.

Lava Lessons

Lava is not a good pest control system.

While Avalorn is my main play world, I do have several others.  One is set up just for my horse herd, courtesy of Mo' Creatures (seriously, if you haven't tried this mod, do so.  It's fun beyond belief.)  In Creatures world, I have a little treetop outpost, a lovely glass greenhouse, and an enormous stable.

One of the mobs in Mo'Creatures is wild wolves.  Unlike the tameable official canines, these are not in the least bit friendly.  You can toss bones at them all day long, and they will either ignore you, or go for the throat (depending on time of day).  They have the unfortunate ability of spider-kind to lock onto a player even behind walls or under glass.  Thus I woke up to three snarling, growling wolves below my treetop ladder.

The wise thing would have been to shoot them full of arrows.  Instead... well, let's just say it's a bad idea to let me carry around a bucket of lava.   I also am extraordinarily good at miscalculating the burn distance of molten rock.  Tossing lava while standing on a wooden bridge is very foolish, even if you build a cobblestone pier.

Yes, those are all my items on the ground.

At least I got rid of the wolves?
