For Spiders, that is.
While I may not have any lava for a Sizzler, I do have a prodigious supply of wood. The problem with slaying spiders is that the drops most often land on my glass roof, tantalizingly just out of reach unless I break the blocks. Thus, the humble spider hatch was born.
It's not pretty or automatic, but it does the job quite nicely. The tree harvesting was not going as well. I made the poor judgement of falling off yet another tree branch while looking ahead, though it was neither fatal nor too close to the spawner. Just barely non-fatal.
Ow.
Quickly snatching some pumpkins along the way, I hightailed it towards the nearest Emergency Ascent System. (aka, ladder) A few fish later, I was feeling not quite so badly off. It so happens that there was a silver lining to my preemptive fall from heights, for I had spotted something that didn't look like a pumpkin chilling out in the shade of a pine before my fall.
Sure enough, it was another treasure chest, being guarded by a Creeper. No way I was going to stand toe-to-toe with a a kamikaze monster, so it was back to the tree for some underground drilling. I seemed to have attracted a lot of unwelcome attention today, as evidenced by the Creeper who decided to tap dance on my roof.
Digging was definitely the way to go. There were a few false starts along the way, but eventually the path was clear to purloin the treasures from below. The chest held....
A diamond pick! Most excellent, I'm sure this will come in handy later on. For now, it was going straight into storage, before I lost it to another deadly fall.
